How does Rent to Buy Work?
Aberdare Motors' rent-to-buy car scheme was created to offer quality used cars with affordable payment options. Our program allows customers to make weekly payments, and at the end of the contract, the vehicle is theirs. If you wish to change your vehicle, we will happily swap it for you.
We provide a mechanical warranty throughout the contract to ensure a hassle-free experience. Additionally, we offer a courtesy car, a long or new MOT, and accept part exchanges.
What is your application process?
Simply apply online, and we will call you the next day to learn more about your financial situation. Based on your financial status and chosen vehicle, we will create a personalized payment plan. You can now make your initial payment by card, cash, or over the phone. Once we agree on a contract, your weekly payments will start from the day you collect your vehicle.
What documents do you need to see?
Please bring a photo of the front and back of your driver's license, a recent utility or council tax bill, and your recent bank statements. The whole process should take no more than 5 minutes. If you prefer to complete the process online, you can email the following documents to email@aberdaremotors.co.uk:
1. Driver's license (front and back)
2. Bank card
3. Proof of address (recent bills or bank statement)
4. Proof of affordability (payslips or benefits to show how you can afford the weekly payment)
How do I reserve a vehicle?
Once your application is accepted, make your initial payment by card, cash, or over the phone. This will reserve the car for you and prevent anyone else from applying for it for up to 7 days.
Can I really change my car within 12 weeks?
Yes, we offer a vehicle swap option within the first 12 weeks. There is no initial payment required for the swap, but your new weekly payments will continue with the new vehicle.
Is there a deposit to pay?
We take a one off non-refundable initial payment when you order your vehicle.
Do I need to pay for the road tax and insurance for the vehicle?
Yes, you are responsible for your own insurance and road tax on the vehicle.
Can I cancel the agreement at anytime?
Yes. Under our rent-to-buy contract, if you decide to return the vehicle or cancel the contract, your payments will be treated as rent. We offer flexibility in these situations.
What insurance do I need?
All vehicles need to be insured on a fully comprehensive basis. We need to see your cover note before the vehicle is handed over to you.
How will weekly payment be taken?
We can accept payment by direct debit payment only.
What if I get into difficulty paying?
Give us a call to discuss your situation. We'll do our best to help you wherever possible.
How much is delivery?
Delivery costs a minimum of £75, whichever is greater.
What condition are your vehicles in?
Our vehicles are in good condition, with most being between 9 to 15 years old, though some are older. Expect some age-related wear and tear on the paint and bodywork.
